NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Med/Dark 3 Cadiz

(L to R) NARS Blush in Desire, NARS Matte Pencil in Red Square, Sheer Glow Foundation in Cadiz, Blush in Taj Mahal

Some are born with great skin, some achieve great skin, and some have great skin thrust upon them. Well, not really. I have my great skin applied using NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. Let me start off by saying: 1. Ignore my attempt at funny opening line, 2. I had sampled this foundation numerous times before taking the plunge, 3. The plunge was totally worth it. For a quick colour reference, I’m an NC45 in MAC products, and to see my L’Oreal shade click here, to see my BECCA Cosmetics shade click here, and for my Make Up For Ever shade read this review.

Sheer Glow in Cadiz, Radiant Creamy Concealer in Amande

Sheer Glow is not the foundation to give you a very matte finish, nor is it the one to give you a very dewy finish; think more of an in between finish, like satin. Having said all that though, that’s one of the main reasons I enjoy this product — in addition to the wide shade range and the way it mimics perfect skin, of course. The formula can easily be manipulated by using an illuminating primer or adding some illuminator to the foundation. If we’re going to discuss the coverage, I’d group this as full coverage — depending on the application tool being used. A BeautyBlender would sheer this out slightly, while a dense buffing brush will give you more coverage. In either cause though, the coverage is definetly buildable without the fear of it looking cakey, and this foundation lasts for a very long time as well. For any spots that it didn’t get to cover entirely, I go in with NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Amande.

Sheer Glow currently retails for 57CDN before taxes at Canadian Sephora stores

I had originally gotten this foundation in the shade Macao, its counterpart with more red undertones, until I eventually realized this was the same as The Great MAC Studio Fix Fiasco of 2013. I had forgotten to get a new color match because my original match was done when I had more exposure to the sun. Therefore if you’re an NW44 in MAC and not NC45, it’s likely that you’re the shade Macao in NARS Sheer Glow and vice versa (so NC45 = Cadiz). Is this the best foundation I’ve tried in my years? Quite possibly. No other foundation has this many people saying, “Wow but you have perfect skin though!”, with me responding, “Yeah thanks it’s courtesy of NARS Sheer Glow” and I should also mention that this formulation feels very light on the skin. Keep in mind however that my skin is balanced — it is neither oily nor dry, so unfortunately I can’t speak to the wearability on varying skin types. The good news though, is that NARS has just about every shade you can think of for this formula, so go ahead and try it out!
