As a makeup lover, I can honestly say that shade ranges have come a far way for WOC, especially in the drugstore (here’s looking at you L’Oreal True Match). Of course, when shopping for higher end foundations, one expects to see more shades with undertones being considered — this is not always the case (sorry Benefit). Australian brand BECCA has shades for everyone you guys, I kid you not! Regardless of which end of the complexion spectrum you fall. Though I don’t usually have issues with finding my shade, I’m always concerned about those who do. But fret not, cause BECCA’s got you covered! (pun intended) This is the shade that was worn in my review MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Deposit
This Complexion Crème though a little bit thick, lives up to its name. The coverage from this absolutely flawless — in my opinion. I’ve worn it in both winter and summer and depending on the season I’m either Amber or Tobacco. Amber is sometimes a tiny bit too light for me, at which point I’ll mix in a little of BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Topaz (as seen in my post on NARS Taos).
Because of how thick this foundation is, my favourite way to apply it is using a damp beauty sponge. Since it does in fact give ‘ultimate coverage’, I find it doesn’t sheer it out too much — so I don’t have to sacrifice coverage for it feeling comfortable on my skin. This also works very well for when I’m using highlighter because it blends smoothly right on top.
It doesn’t cling to any dry patches on my face, even though it gives a matte finish. And I also find that it doesn’t make me look oily either (if you are oily, try BECCA’s Mattifying Primer). I do think that this could work for just about anyone — if you prefer more coverage, use this on its own. If you prefer less coverage, mix this in with a little moisturizer to make your own tinted moisturizer.
