Can you really call yourself a beauty blogger if you don’t own at least one NARS blush? Well, I mean, you can…but I just didn’t know what else to open with today. At the VIB sale recently, one of the things I picked up was this NARS blush in Taos, and it has been so lovely. Perfect for warm makeup looks and the upcoming summer months. The texture: very smooth to the touch, size vs. price: absolutely worth it, pigmentation: very pigmented — so be light handed, wearability: only began to fade after about 8 hours.
Described as ‘desert rose with shimmer’, I think this is a perfectly accurate description. I had tried Taj Mahal previously after seeing a picture of it on Kelly Rowland and personally, I wasn’t entirely impressed with how it appeared on my skin. Taj Mahal is definitely more on the golden orange side — though it isn’t nearly as intimidating as it appears in the pan. When blended out it has the most gorgeous gold shimmer. While Taos is the perfect marriage pink and a hint of peach — for darker skin. Many have described this as ‘Orgasm for darker skin tones’, which I also think is somewhat accurate — though Orgasm is distinctly more peach with gold shimmer.
For WOC this is absolutely perfect! Do I think it could work for all seasons? Yes. Unless of course you really do pay attention to going for darker shades in the fall and winter. Since it does in fact have shimmer, I find it best to be light handed and strategic with placement to avoid emphasizing any texture on the skin. It is also important to keep the high level of pigmentation in mind. Tap the brush in the pan once (lightly), and apply to the cheeks — warming and blending upwards as you go; this will make it look the most natural. I’ve been applying mine with the 742 Angled Shader brush by Bdellium Tools to add the slightest bit of dimension to the face. A little goes a long way, so I won’t be hitting pan for a while!
