I had been contemplating getting into beauty blogging for months, and one of the things that made me forge through and take the plunge was Maybelline’s Color Elixir. Yes, one product can have that effect. What grabbed my attention was the idea of Maybelline combining the pigmentation of a lipstick, moisture of a balm and the shine of a lipgloss in one product. I decided to try one shade of the Color Elixir, and if I liked it enough I would purchase another. Was I pleased? Pleased may be an understatement in this case. The pigmentation is amazing! It doesn’t feel sticky — just felt very…smooth; glides on nicely, and the shape of the applicator is so convenient. Imagine applying lipstick (think MAC’s Heroine) in liquid form — without any mistakes; apply 2 coats for full opacity. Surprisingly, this lasts a very long time on the lips, i.e. through talking with friends, having lunch, rubbing your lips together, etc. Then when it finally dries down it leaves the prettiest fuschia stain! In the months wearing this color I received compliments from school staff, friends, families, people on the bus, people on the subway, MAC artists, Sephora artists — you name it! With 20 shades to choose from, I have my sights set on Nude Illusion and Signature Scarlet next!
